A-Blast
President's Message:
December 13, 2021
I hope all is well with each of you!
We are in the depths of “renewal season” for BOC certification, Alabama licensure, and NATA/SEATA/ALATA membership. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns!
Please remember to renew your NATA memberships for the upcoming year. Becoming a NATA member also automatically makes you a SEATA and ALATA member. These memberships are the leading financial source behind fulfilling the mission and vision of ALATA as we grow and support the profession into 2021.
Do not forget to follow ALATA on our various social media accounts for regular updates!
As always, please let us know how your association can better serve you!
Your President,
2021 ALATA Summary:
As I reflect on 2021 it was truly an amazing year for ALATA and the profession in the state. Here are some of the major accomplishments of ALATA this past year.
-
Supporting SB73 through the legislative process and signing it into law. This is the first major update to the practice of Athletic Training in 28 years. While it will take months to fully implement this is a monumental accomplishment for Athletic Trainers in the state as the profession grows.
-
Creation of 3 new committees: Early Career Professional (ECP), Career Advancement Committee (CAC) and the Ethnic and Diversity Advisory Council (EDAC).
-
A very successful and greatly attended hybrid-model meeting in Gulf Shores, AL. It was great to see so many of you in person again!
-
Record ALATA membership.
-
Regular meetings with leadership of other healthcare professions’ associations to build knowledge, rapport, and respect between the various professions.
This is by no means an all-inclusive list. We look forward to serving the membership and profession into 2022!
2022 BOC and Alabama Licensure Renewal:
Please be sure to complete your BOC requirements to maintain your BOC certification no later than 12/31/2021. Don’t wait until the last minute!
Also remember that your Alabama state license is due to be renewed by 11/30/2021 to avoid a late charge. Any applications after 11/30/2021 will be assessed a late fee.
2021 ALATA CSMM in Gulf Shores CEUs:
Everyone who attended the CSMM in person or virtually would have gotten an email with links to the recordings and surveys to complete to get their CEU Certificates. These emails go to the email that was used in the registration process. Some of these emails were lost in “junk” folders or quarantined by institutional firewalls. If you did not receive this email on June 8th or it’s follow-up on July 26th, please contact me directly at president@alathletictrainers.org. I will then forward you to the appropriate individuals to help get you your CEU certificates.
2022 ALATA CSMM Call for Abstracts:
This year we had such a great meeting that we garnered a lot of attention for speaking presentations at the 2022 CSMM in Birmingham. To ensure that ALATA provides the best educational opportunities for our membership, we have instituted an annual call for abstracts to attract world-class presentations that fit what our Alabama membership needs most. The call for abstracts will be open from November 1st until December 31st, 2021, with prospective speakers being notified mid-February of their status. We encourage membership to submit presentations and share the link with those they know in the industry. You can find more information at https://www.alathletictrainers.org/call-for-abstracts.

Our ALATA initiatives throughout the year would not be possible if not for the outstanding sponsors and business partners that we have. We would like to extend our greatest appreciation to the following donors and sponsors who have made the educational aspect of this year’s CSMM possible:

Want to Get Involved?
ALATA is GROWING! With this growth we have multiple ways for members to get involved and serve. While our committees are mostly full currently if you are interested in serving ALATA in any capacity, please reply to this email, or contact President Kyle Southall at president@alathletictrainers.org. We will find a way for you to be involved and grow in the association. There is typically a significant turnover in December/January for additional opportunities also.
