President's Message:

February 14, 2021

It has been a fast start to 2021 as your ALATA Executive Council is diligently preparing for the upcoming year!

Our Senate Bill 73 has successfully passed through the senate! It is now moving on to the House of Representatives as SB73/HB382. A huge thank you to those who supported the legislative efforts. We will be “all hands on deck” in the coming weeks. Please follow our social media platforms and A-blasts for updates as we go into the next steps for our bill and how you can help it be successful.

We are currently working diligently with The Lodge at Gulf State Park to plan a safe and extraordinary annual meeting in Gulf Shores, AL from May 27-30. Room blocks are now open so get your rooms before they book! This meeting will be a great “workcation” with several CEUs and networking opportunities but also built-in beach and leisure time for everyone including families and friends. Also of note, the discounted rooms on the beach will be good for 3 days prior and 3 days following the meeting. Please see the remainder of this email for more information. A schedule and registration information will come in the following weeks. We hope to see you at the beach!

Membership is what drives our association and the extent that we can advocate for our profession in Alabama. We advocate for NATA membership, which includes your SEATA and ALATA membership as well. However, we also know that sometimes that may not be feasible, so we do allow an ALATA only option.
