A-blast
President's Message:
May 4, 2021
We are very excited for our upcoming ALATA Clinical Symposium and Member’s Meeting in Gulf Shores, AL, May 27-30th! Your ALATA Executive Council has been working diligently and tirelessly to make it a pinnacle event. We have a phenomenal lineup of speakers and content topics culminating into 14.5 Category A and 4.5 EBP CEUs. Dubbed a “workcation” by our planning committee over a year ago, we have compounded these excellent CEU opportunities with built-in free time to network, hang out at the beach, and enjoy the scenery.
Although the room block at The Lodge has filled, there are still several options nearby. Reply to this email or contact me directly at president@alathletictrainers.org if you would like any suggestions or recommendations.
Cannot make it in-person? We have a synchronous virtual option for those unable to attend in-person but still desire to access the content. We also have options to mix in-person and virtual should you only be able to make a few days in-person but not want to miss out on the action and presentations the other days.
For more information on ALATA, the CSMM, and resources our website has to offer, visit https://www.alathletictrainers.org/ for updates.
We hope to see everyone in Gulf Shores for our annual ALATA Clinical Symposium and Members Meeting!
As always, please let us know how your association can better serve you!

Alabama Board of Athletic Trainers Election
IMPORTANT NOTICE
FOR LICENSED ATHLETIC TRAINERS
ALATA, Alabama’s professional association for athletic trainers, will be holding an election for two vacancies effective 12/31/2021 on the Alabama Board of Athletic Trainers, the licensing and regulatory agency for the State of Alabama. In accordance with section 34-40-3 of the Code of Alabama 1975 (the portion of the Athletic Trainers Licensure Act which stipulates Board composition by race and other factors), one vacant position is to be held by a “Black” Athletic Trainer and the other by an “Athletic Trainer who is also a licensed Physical Therapist.” To qualify, a nominee must be a citizen of the United States and have acted as an Athletic Trainer for at least three years within Alabama immediately preceding appointment. Any athletic trainer who is currently licensed in the State of Alabama has the right to nominate, attend, and vote on the Board position. ALATA membership is not required to participate in this process.
If you are an Alabama-licensed athletic trainer and would like to nominate a qualified licensee for the upcoming position, please email your nominations to ALATA Secretary Allyn Abadie at alatasec@gmail.com. Please provide the nominee’s full name and place of employment so that eligibility and acceptance of the nomination can be verified; also include your full name and Alabama license number. If you are nominating someone for one or both positions, please indicate which Board Position is receiving each nomination. Please email your nominations beginning May 3, 2021, and no later than May 17, 2021. Nominations close at Midnight on May 17, 2021; and no nominations will be accepted once nominations close unless ALATA deems it necessary to reopen due to lack of qualified nominees.
The position will be voted on during the in-person ALATA Town Hall Meeting on Friday May 28th 2021, at 5PM taking place in Gulf Shores, AL. Please see the ALATA for more on the location of the meeting at https://www.alathletictrainers.org/annual-meeting-ats. Eligible voters must be present in-person to vote.
